00 — Overview
Demonstration prototype. PSAM is a member of the Work & Supply reference network — a fictional multi-app integration where an orchestrator routes events between sibling apps (amia asset master, mwem work execution, msam materials, psam procurement, scrm shutdown/campaign, plus cwia/psba/soim). Apps share stable
canonical_refidentifiers so records link across app boundaries. Every supplier, contract, requirement, order and risk in the demo data is fictional and illustrates the data model and workflow only.
What PSAM is
The Procurement & Supply Assurance Manager turns a demand for material or services into a traceable procurement thread and then holds it accountable to delivery. A purchase requirement is not "handled" because a purchase order exists — it is assured when the right supplier was sourced against a valid contract or quote, an order was placed under the correct authority (local or an external ERP), the delivery milestones are on track, and any supply risk to the work it feeds is visible and being mitigated. PSAM keeps every one of those links so the state of supply is always demonstrable.
The domain
Operations and materials teams raise requirements; procurement sources them, places orders, and chases delivery; someone must see, before it is too late, when a supply slippage will block the work downstream. The hard parts are provenance (which demand a requirement came from, which quote and contract an order rests on), authority (a locally-raised order vs. one owned by an external ERP), and supply-risk visibility (a late delivery surfaced against the work package it will delay, not buried in an order). PSAM models all three.
The 12 models by area
Reference Data (2)
- Supplier — an approved (or prospective / restricted) supply source; a shared master (supplier:*).
- ContractRef — a framework or standing agreement with a supplier that orders can call off.
Procurement (4)
- PurchaseRequirement — the central record; a demand to buy, carrying source, strategy, priority and status. Shared as a canonical entity (preq:*).
- SourcingCase — how a requirement is being sourced (direct, RFQ, tender, framework call-off), and the selected supplier/contract.
- Quote — a supplier's priced response within a sourcing case, with an evaluation status.
- PurchaseOrder — the committed order; local or external-ERP authority, with value and promised delivery.
Delivery & Expediting (3) - DeliveryMilestone — a checkpoint on an order (acknowledgement, FAT, dispatch, arrival, site delivery) with planned / forecast / actual dates and an at-risk flag. - ExpeditingRecord — a logged supplier contact chasing delivery, with a forecast and a risk level. - ReceiptReference — a pointer to the goods-receipt event (expected / partial / complete / rejected).
Supply Risk (1)
- SupplyRisk — a risk against a requirement (and optionally its order), scored and mitigated, carrying the impact_canonical_ref of the work it threatens.
Integration (2) - ExternalRecordLink — maps a local record to its counterpart in an external system (e.g. an ERP order), with authority mode and sync state. - EventOutbox — the outbound event log for cross-app propagation (event type, aggregate, delivery status, retries).
The demo scenario
A material shortage referred from msam drives one procurement thread end to end:
- PR-1001 (
preq:1001) — a MATERIAL_SHORTAGE requirement for bearing BRG-6208 (material:brg-6208), raised from msam's demanddemand:wp-1001-brg, to cover the P-101 work-package shortage. Sourced as a framework call-off (sourcing:sc-1001) against Precision Industrial's bearings framework → PO-5001 placed, ORDERED. - PO-5001 delivery is slipping: the acknowledgement milestone is COMPLETE but dispatch and site-delivery are AT_RISK, an ExpeditingRecord logs a carrier capacity constraint, and the receipt is still EXPECTED.
- An open LATE_DELIVERY SupplyRisk (
risk:po5001-late, severity HIGH) is raised against PR-1001, carryingimpact_canonical_ref: workpkg:wp-1001— the risk is visible against the mwem work package it will delay, with Global Bearings held as an alternate. - Secondary threads show the other states: PR-1002 in EVALUATION with two quotes, PR-1003 QUOTING, PR-1004 NEW, and PR-1005 fully delivered (PO-5002 RECEIVED, goods receipt COMPLETE).
The seed carries suppliers, contracts, five requirements, sourcing cases, quotes, two purchase orders, delivery milestones, an expediting record, receipts and one supply risk — enough to show the whole spine in "on track", "sourcing" and "at risk" states.
